The gallery is celebrating its 200th anniversary and was the first in the world to be open to the public, it houses a permanent collection of Baroque work from the Spanish, French and Italian old masters and Tudor portraiture from the British with pieces by Rembrandt, Gainsborough and Rubens, the Jacobean style building designed by Sir John Soane is one of the finest examples of gallery architecture in Britain with the endless sense of space inside hanging one of the finest collections of this period...historical, rich and dramatic!
